National sets polling target to govern more independently

National Party president Sylvia Wood has set a goal for the party to reach the mid-40s in polling before the 2026 election. This would give them enough support to govern without needing as much help from smaller coalition parties. How well they're tracking towards this goal will be something to watch at their conference in Lower Hutt this weekend.
