Merz to Stay On After Calling State Losses a 'Disaster'

Friedrich Merz said September 21 he will remain German chancellor and leader of his CDU party after losses in Berlin and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state votes September 20. He called the results a 'disaster' and said he will continue planned reforms.
