UN AI Panel Calls for Limits on Autonomous AI Agents

Governments should place precautionary limits on AI agents, software that can act on its own with growing skill, the UN's Independent International Scientific Panel on AI said in its first thematic brief Sept. 21. The report reviews OpenAI's hack of Hugging Face earlier this year and calls for closer international coordination on safety and accountability.
