Artificial intelligence will top the U.N. General Assembly agenda for the first time in High-level Week starting September 21, 2026. Secretary-General António Guterres warned September 16 that fast-moving AI poses risks that cannot be ignored. AI governance, or rules for its use, joins climate, health, peace and security. The test is whether attention creates lasting follow-up.
