Victoria proposes manslaughter charge for abuse-driven suicides

Victorian Premier Ben Carroll promises a new manslaughter law if Labor wins re-election. It would apply where sustained family violence — repeated control and threats — drives a victim to suicide. Labor calls it an Australian first to close a legal gap. Parliament would need to pass new legislation.
