Philips Hue Moves to Hardwired Switches, Eliminating Battery Swaps
Philips Hue is launching a Wired Wall Switch Module in Europe next June that draws power directly from mains rather than batteries. The Zigbee-connected device solves a persistent smart-bulb problem: when users flip a physical switch, it cuts power to the bulb entirely, severing its wireless connection. The new module keeps bulbs powered and networked, targeting multi-room and commercial spaces where battery maintenance has been a recurring friction point.
