Osborne says Thiel Tapestry viewing was meant to stay private

British Museum chair George Osborne said he set up a private Bayeux Tapestry viewing — a closed showing of the historic artwork — for Peter Thiel, founder of PayPal and Palantir. In Somerset on 19 September 2026, he said: "It wasn't like we expected anyone to know about it." Palantir has held a £330m NHS deal since 2023.
