U.S., Denmark and Greenland Agree on Arctic Defense Pact

Donald Trump announced Sept. 18 the U.S. had reached an Arctic security pact — a defense agreement for the far north — with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenland leader Jens-Frederik Nielsen. Formal signing is planned at the U.N. General Assembly in New York City, after months of Trump's threats to take Greenland by force.
