Bolivia's New Tiger Cat Is Smaller Than a Domestic Cat

Bolivia has a newly described wild cat, Leopardus tilcayo, found in the Yungas cloud forest. It measures 46 cm long and weighs about 1.4 kg, smaller than an average domestic cat. It has light brown fur with irregular rosettes, ring-shaped spots. DNA analysis shows its lineage, or family line, split from other tiger cats about 1.4 million years ago.
