Scientists Find a Tiny New Wild Cat in Bolivia
Bolivia has a new wild cat, called Leopardus tilcayo, found in the Yungas cloud forest. It is 46 cm long and weighs about 1.4 kg, smaller than an average house cat. It has light brown fur with uneven, ring-like spots. Tests of its DNA, its building instructions, show it branched off from other tiger cats about 1.4 million years ago.
