The Book of Birds named 2026 Wainwright Prize book of the year

The Book of Birds by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris has been named 2026 Wainwright Prize book of the year. The illustrated guide to Britain's threatened birds covers 49 declining or endangered species. It first won the illustrative books category. Category winners receive £500; overall winners gain an additional £2,500, according to The Guardian's 17 September report.
