Hyper Light Drifter Studio Heart Machine Lays Off Nearly All Staff

Heart Machine has laid off nearly its entire staff, founder Alx Preston announced Sept. 16, 2026, on LinkedIn. The U.S. studio made 2016's Hyper Light Drifter. Preston said he did not know what comes next for the studio to survive, leaving it at risk of closing.
