Maker of Hyper Light Drifter Video Game Lays Off Almost All Workers

The U.S. video game studio Heart Machine has let go of almost all its workers. Founder Alx Preston shared the news Sept. 16, 2026, on LinkedIn. The studio made the 2016 game Hyper Light Drifter. Preston said he is unsure how the studio can stay open, and it may have to close.
