Health Canada proposes uniform framework for MAID eligibility

Health Canada has released a Model Practice Standard for Medical Assistance in Dying to align eligibility criteria across provinces. The framework responds to inconsistent assessment practices. A parliamentary committee and expert panel both recommended harmonized standards after identifying gaps in the current decentralized system. Provinces must now decide whether to adopt the baseline guidelines.
