Ottawa offers provinces a common set of rules for medical assistance in dying

Health Canada has released a template for how provinces should decide who qualifies for medical assistance in dying—a legal option available to eligible Canadians. The move aims to reduce differences in how each province applies the rules. Both Parliament and expert advisers recommended this common framework after finding gaps in how the current system works. Provinces will decide whether to follow it.
