Kirk Family Files Legal Claim Against Utah University Over 2025 Killing

Charlie Kirk’s family filed a Sept. 9 notice of claim, a required warning before suing government bodies, against Utah Valley University, local police and Utah, alleging “stunning failures and reckless decisions” left the 31-year-old exposed to a rooftop gunman who killed him before thousands in 2025. UVU confirmed receipt without further comment. Such filings often precede lawsuits.
