After 37 Years, Official Ruling Imminent on Indigenous Teen's Death

Deputy State Coroner Harriet Grahame will deliver findings this year into Mark Haines's 1988 death—a 17-year-old Indigenous teenager found on train tracks near Tamworth. An inquest, formally opened in May 2023, followed 37 years of inaction. Detectives testified with conflicting theories: accident, suicide, or homicide.
