Haldane warns of tax-or-cuts Budget choice

Former Bank of England chief economist Andy Haldane said Prime Minister Andy Burnham faces a “straight choice” between raising taxes and cutting spending at the 28 October Budget. He said markets suspect a “traditional tax and spend socialist government with better TikTok videos.” Burnham said: “That doesn’t tell the story. We are not that.”
