
AI Data Centers Could Triple Toxic E-Waste by 2050
Annual toxic e-waste from AI data centers could triple in 25 years, the Basel Action Network says in a Sept. 15 report, warning of a 'tsunami' of discarded electronics. It projects 395 to 617 million tonnes retired by 2050, containing lead, mercury and cadmium, with no disposal plan. Only one-fifth is properly managed.
