AI Buildings May Create Three Times More Toxic Trash

Buildings full of AI computers could triple yearly poisonous electronic trash in 25 years, the Basel Action Network says in a Sept. 15 report, warning of a 'tsunami' of thrown-away devices. It estimates 395 to 617 million tonnes retired by 2050, with harmful lead, mercury and cadmium and no safe disposal plan. Only one in five is handled safely.
