Air Pollutants Tied to Suicide Risk in 29-Study Review

Exposure to fine particulate matter — tiny airborne particles — and nitrogen dioxide was linked to higher risk of suicide death, attempts and suicidal thoughts, Queen's University Belfast researchers found across 29 studies. Published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, the review shows a link, not proof of cause, pointing to more study of air quality and mental health.
