Nitter and XCancel, login-free X readers, go offline after legal action

Nitter and XCancel are offline as of Sept. 15, 2026, after X legal action. Nitter's GitHub was archived Sept. 11 to read-only; XCancel cited a new development in legal proceedings. X's August cease-and-desist alleged unlawful API use, meaning its data feed, and circumvention. Both offered login-free X reading without ads, tracking cookies or JavaScript.
