Fed expected to raise rates to 3.75%-4.00% in September

Economists expect the Federal Reserve to lift its benchmark rate — the base rate that shapes loans and savings — by a quarter point to 3.75%-4.00% at its Sept. 15-16 meeting, Reuters reported Sept. 14. Loans would likely cost more, savings pay a bit more. I won't trust the consensus until the vote is counted.
