English farm grants could restore 1,300km of hedgerow

Farmers in England have applied for grants that, if approved, would restore 1,300km (800 miles) of mature hedgerow — enough to run from Land's End to Hadrian's Wall and back. Hedge laying means cutting stems almost through, then laying them at an angle.
