McConnell Back in Senate After Summer Absence

Mitch McConnell, 84, returned to the U.S. Capitol on Sept. 14, 2026, voting for the first time since mid-June. His office said the Kentucky Republican and former majority leader fell, requiring hospital care and rehabilitation. His return restores one more Republican vote on the Senate floor.
