Longtime Senator McConnell Returns After a Fall

Mitch McConnell, 84, came back to the U.S. Capitol on Sept. 14, 2026, and voted for the first time since mid-June. His office said the Kentucky Republican — once the top Senate leader for his party — had fallen and needed hospital care and recovery time. His return gives Republicans one extra vote in the Senate.
