Australia's Evening Gas Power Drops Sharply

Gas power produced between 5pm and 8pm in Australia fell 67% in the year to August 2026, EnergyEdge analysis finds. The market operator separately says gas generation in the second quarter averaged its lowest for that period in over 20 years, with falls in every region centered on the evening peak period.
