Cardiff pact pushes for independence votes in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland

Four leaders signed a memorandum — a joint pledge — in Cardiff on 14 September 2026 seeking independence referendums, votes on leaving the UK, for Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Meeting as party officials, Rhun ap Iorwerth, John Swinney, Michelle O'Neill and Mary Lou McDonald also discussed economy, energy and foreign ties. Now, will Westminster discuss the rules?
