
France Apologizes to Clear Way for New Ambassador to U.S.
France said Sept. 13 it regrets a social media post criticizing the U.S. human rights record. Paris says the apology aims to lift a U.S. block on its new ambassador to Washington. The dispute followed France's criticism of a U.S. vote in the U.N. General Assembly — all member states — against extending the U.N. human rights chief's term.
