Mobileye moves from technology supplier to robotaxi operator

Mobileye will launch robotaxis in the US by 2027, starting with 100 vehicles and scaling to 17,000 over five years. The shift puts the self-driving company directly against customers like Volkswagen who license its Mobileye Drive system. Profitability depends on achieving promised reductions in sensor costs; without them, the business model remains unproven.
