XREAL Opens Aura Reservations Ahead of Fall 2026 Launch

XREAL is taking reservations for Aura, a tethered XR headset running Google's Android XR platform. A $99 reservation converts to $199 in launch credit. The device uses XREAL's X1S chip and 70° field-of-view optics, offloading compute to a paired phone or tablet to reduce headset weight and thermal load—persistent friction points in standalone XR. The developer-focused launch makes Android XR the first standardized framework for applications across multiple vendors.
