Anthropic CEO urges slower growth in AI model capabilities

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said Sept. 12, 2026 that labs should slow how fast AI models gain capabilities. In a blog post laying out three strategies to 'pace the frontier,' meaning the most advanced models, he pointed to the OpenAI-Hugging Face hack and AI systems increasingly able to help build their successors.
