Reported sexual violence hit a record high in 2024, then dipped under 1% in 2025 — barely a blip on a 64% rise over 15 years. The annual domestic, family and sexual violence report, released 9 September 2026, drew Plibersek to Parliament: a mother said parenting felt like "standing at the edge of a field watching something unfold."
