Protected witness places defendant at scene of Mexico surfer killings

A protected witness — someone whose identity is concealed for safety — testified at the Mexico trial of three men accused of killing two Australian brothers and an American in 2024. The witness said they accompanied a defendant to the crime scene, fled after gunshots, and were later threatened into silence. Authorities say the victims were shot and dumped in a cliff-top shaft during an attempted truck theft. Trial runs through September 2026.
