'Free Solo' directors premiere 'Everest: The Other Side' at Venice, charting a fatal ski descent

Oscar winners Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi premiered 'Everest: The Other Side' at the Venice Film Festival on 3 September 2026, per The Hollywood Reporter. The documentary follows Jim Morrison and Hilaree Nelson attempting the first ski descent of Everest's north face. Nelson died during the expedition when snow slid off a nearly 6,000-foot cliff beneath her. A Canadian premiere at TIFF follows, then an exclusive IMAX run via Disney in autumn 2026.
