King Haakon VIII's constitutional oath date set as Norway's succession proceeds

King Harald V died at Rikshospitalet on August 28, aged 89, after 35 years on the throne. His son has ascended as King Haakon VIII. An extraordinary Council of State convened at the Royal Palace at 11:30 that day. A date is now set for Haakon's formal oath of allegiance before the Storting, Norway's parliament.
