Alabama HOA Votes to Kill Geese in Violation of Federal Law

Edgewater HOA in Madison voted 5-2 to cull hundreds of Canada geese from Lady Ann Lake without securing a federal depredation permit. The birds are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, which requires USDA approval before any killing. The board has filed no application. Proceeding without federal authorization exposes members to criminal prosecution, not just resident complaints.
