Officials found in contempt of Parliament over cancelled IT project

The Privileges Committee found MBIE officials deliberately misled MPs by not disclosing a cancelled biometric upgrade. Chief executive Nic Blakeley and former Immigration head Alison McDonald cited commercial sensitivity around NEC contract talks, but the committee ruled selective answering can still constitute contempt. No further sanction was recommended; both had publicly apologised.
