Root returns as England captain, Fleming takes over as coach for Pakistan Test series

Joe Root is back as England's Test captain and Stephen Fleming begins as head coach in the first Rothesay Test against Pakistan at Headingley on 19 August. The ECB confirmed both appointments on 30 July. Fleming, on a four-year deal, replaces Brendon McCullum. A second Test follows at Lord's on 27 August.
