
National Gallery of Art acquires Christina Quarles painting that survived LA wildfires
The National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC has acquired Christina Quarles's 'Turn Around, Don't' (2024), now on view. The painting is among the few finished works to survive the January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires that destroyed the artist's Altadena home and studio, according to The Art Newspaper. Quarles enters the NGA collection for the first time.
