Eight of Eleven Sean Connery Prize Competitors at Edinburgh 2026 Are First-Time Feature Directors

Eight of the eleven directors competing for the Sean Connery Prize at the 2026 Edinburgh International Film Festival (13–19 August) presented debut features, per Variety. Ten films compete in the official strand. The opener, Louis Paxton's Sundance-winning "The Incomer" starring Domhnall Gleeson, was also a first feature. Three directors arrived with prior credits.
