
Amazon Seeks Two-Year Extension on Satellite Internet Build-Out
Amazon asked the FCC in late January to postpone its satellite deployment deadline by two years, to July 2028. The company must deploy half its planned 3,236-satellite constellation—1,618 satellites—to keep its spectrum rights. Amazon launched its first Kuiper satellites in April 2025. The FCC must balance spectrum rules against the goal of supporting competition with SpaceX's Starlink.
