Amazon Seeks Extra Time to Launch Its Internet Satellites
Amazon asked the FCC on January 30, 2026, for a two-year extension on its satellite internet plan. The company needs until July 2028 instead of July 2026 to deploy roughly half of its satellite network—1,618 satellites meant to compete with SpaceX's Starlink service. Amazon launched its first test satellites in April 2025. The FCC must weigh rules about spectrum use against the goal of supporting competition.
