Johnson-Thompson struggles in heptathlon 200m at European Championships after injury-hit 2026

Katarina Johnson-Thompson, the home favourite and two-time world champion, struggled in the 200m on the opening day of the heptathlon at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. The 33-year-old had competed just once — a single shot put — in all of 2026 through injury. She admitted she had not been able to put in full training, but said she was "happy to be back competing."
