Three Ancient Tombs with Mummies and Coffins Found at Egypt's Bahariya Oasis

An Egyptian archaeological mission uncovered three tombs dating to different periods at the Sheikh Sobi site in the Bahariya Oasis, roughly 370 km southwest of Cairo. Arab News and Daily News Egypt reported the find on 12 August 2026. The tombs contained mummies, limestone and pottery coffins, and votive figurines. The first tomb features a 3-metre shaft leading to two burial chambers.
