Bret Easton Ellis sidelined from FX's The Shards despite credits

Bret Easton Ellis is credited as co-developer, co-writer and executive producer on FX's The Shards, premiering 5 August 2026, but had no significant role in production, per The Hollywood Reporter. Ellis wrote the first two episodes for HBO before creative differences and a 2024 podcast vow to "never do television again." Ryan Murphy acquired the scripts and took creative control.
