Armed National Guard Completes One Year on D.C. Streets, Extended Through 2029

Armed National Guard troops have patrolled Washington, D.C. for a full year as of August 2026 — the longest and largest domestic Guard deployment under President Trump, who ordered it after declaring a "crime emergency." The mission has been extended through Inauguration Day in January 2029.
