Australia's Top Air Safety Investigator Says Sydney Airport Close Calls Must Stop

Two planes came dangerously close to colliding at Sydney Airport within two weeks — on 27 July and 9 August 2026. Pilots swerved at the last moment both times. On 10 August, Australia's top air safety investigator, Angus Mitchell, called the close calls "unacceptable." His agency is now investigating both incidents.
