
Australia's Air Safety Chief Calls Sydney Airport Near-Misses "Unacceptable"
ATSB chief commissioner Angus Mitchell on 10 August 2026 called two near-misses at Sydney Airport in under two weeks "unacceptable," a striking word choice for the head of an independent, no-blame investigative body. Both incidents — on 27 July and 9 August 2026 — required last-minute pilot action to avoid collision. The ATSB is investigating both.
