Spyware Once Used by Chinese Hackers Now Sold Like a Product to Governments Worldwide

Arctic Wolf reported August 5, 2026, that LightSpy — hacking software linked to Chinese state-backed spies since 2018 — is now sold like a subscription product, with branding, billing, and demos for government, business, and military buyers. It infects phones, computers, Apple devices, and routers across 13 countries, including the US. Investigators traced it after an operator ordered KFC through the software using his real name.
